The handing over of N44.5 million to families of 38 deceased officers in Niger by the police

In Niger State, Commissioner of Police Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman presented cheques totaling N44.5 million to at least 38 next of kin and families of deceased personnel from the Niger State Police Command who lost their lives while on duty.

The cheques were distributed on behalf of the Inspector General of Police to families of officers who passed away during the 2022-2023 period in the state.

During the end-of-the-month conference at the Police Officers’ Mess in Minna, Danmamman handed over the cheques to the beneficiaries. He mentioned that the gesture was intended to alleviate the families’ suffering.

In his address to the families, the Commissioner of Police stated: “Regrettably, some personnel pay the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Hence, you are here to collect cheques under the Group Life Assurance Scheme of the Force and other benefits within the Police Force for the families. This token aims to provide some assistance to the next of kin of our fallen heroes. I wish for all of you to find solace and comfort in the Lord.”

He advised the families to use the funds wisely in order to improve their standard of living.

Furthermore, the Commissioner of Police presented commendation letters from the NYSC to 17 members of the Command. These individuals were part of the Police team responsible for maintaining order and security at the recently concluded NYSC Orientation Camp for the year 2024 Batch A, Stream One orientation exercise in Minna.

The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Abdulwahab Olayinka, expressed gratitude to the team for their dedication during the orientation exercise, despite facing challenges.

Among those who received the commendation letters were ASP Shuaibu Abdulkadir, ASP Istifanus Yakubu, and inspectors Mafuyai Yak, Nasiru Danlami, Sule Rahman, Mustapha Ndagi, Salihu Mohammed, and Magret John, among others.

ASP Shuaibu Abdulkadir, speaking on behalf of the personnel, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner of Police for the opportunity to serve in such a capacity. He also appreciated the NYSC Coordinator for the commendation and pledged to continue serving diligently.
