The Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi Upgraded to a Teaching Hospital by FG

An approval has been granted by the Federal Government for the elevation of the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi to a Teaching Hospital.

Confirmation of this upgrade was provided by Malam Abdulmuminu Bawa Yauri, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi.

The hospital’s management, under the leadership of Dr. Aliyu Hamza Balarabe, has expressed its acceptance of the decision and has pledged full support towards the success of the upgrade. The goal is to enhance the range of healthcare services accessible to the residents of Kebbi State.

Yauri mentioned that this development will permit medical students from the Federal University in Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) to utilize the facility for their medical practical training and other healthcare professional requirements. He emphasized, “With this elevation, the hospital’s referral status has been heightened to align with the standards of a higher tertiary referral center. The Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi already functions as a tertiary referral hospital.”

Malam Abdulmuminu extended his congratulations to the people of Kebbi State for reaching this significant milestone and reiterated the commitment of the hospital’s management to continue offering assistance and diligently fulfilling their official responsibilities in the new role as a federal university teaching hospital.
