The Federal Government Denies Plans for Foreign Military Bases in Nigeria

Denying allegations, the Federal Government states that there are no intentions to establish foreign military bases in Nigeria.

In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government urges the public to disregard such false claims.

Minister Idris emphasized, “The Federal Government is not engaged in any discussions with any foreign nation regarding this matter.”

He further clarified that no proposals have been received from any country for the establishment of foreign military bases within Nigeria.

Highlighting existing foreign collaborations in addressing security challenges, the Minister mentioned that President Bola Tinubu is dedicated to enhancing these partnerships to achieve the national security goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
