March 2024 witnessed a sharp increase in the average cost of a healthy meal in Nigeria, now standing at N982, driven by rising inflation rates.
This information was revealed in the March 2024 Cost of Healthy Diet report published by the National Bureau of Statistics.
Compared to February’s N938, the current figure marks a 4.7% surge.
Across regions, the average Cost of Healthy Diet for March 2024 was highest in the South West, at N1,198 per adult per day, while the North West recorded N787 per adult per day.
Notably, the Cost of Healthy Diet escalated at a faster rate than both headline inflation (33.20%) and food inflation (40.01%) in March.
