The call for modernization of the Jen chiefdom and creation of additional districts in Taraba

Expressing his desire for progress, David Robert, the paramount leader of the Jenjo community in Karim-Lamido local government council, has appealed to the Taraba State government for the elevation of the Jen chiefdom to a second-class status and the establishment of more district leadership roles.

During the festive Jenjo Cultural Day Celebration at the Major General Boniface Robert Sinjen Sports and Cultural Centre, the monarch voiced his plea for the enhancement, emphasizing that such advancements would instill a greater sense of identity and importance among the Jenjo people.

He highlighted the historical progression of chiefdom rankings, noting the disparity that currently places Jen at a disadvantage compared to neighboring chiefdoms.

In his words, “It is imperative that we seek an upgrade to bridge this gap and embrace our heritage with enhanced pride.”

Addressing the gathering, former state governor Rev. Jolly Nyame encouraged the monarch to foster unity within the community and the council, emphasizing the importance of solidarity.

Speaking on behalf of the current governor, Barrister Timothy Katap, the Secretary to the State Government, reiterated the government’s commitment to resolving the various issues facing the state. He assured the community that efforts were underway to improve infrastructure, including the construction of quality roads and provision of essential amenities in the near future.
