The call for exposing sponsors and orchestrators of insecurity in Nigeria – Governor Yusuf’s message to security agencies

Urging Security Agencies to delve deep into the origins of the escalating insecurity crisis in Nigeria, Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf emphasized the need to minimize its repercussions and restore complete peace to the populace.

Highlighting the necessity of employing proactive strategies to combat the significant insecurity challenges, Governor Yusuf emphasized that merely discussing the issues will lead to idea sharing, while tangible actions must be taken by all stakeholders based on gathered information.

These remarks were made during the Northwestern High-Security zonal conference held in Kano by the Directorate of State Security Services (DSS).

Addressing the audience, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf challenged the security agencies to leverage intelligence data to uncover the identities of those behind the crimes, whether they are politicians, traditional leaders, religious figures, or members of the business community. He urged them to intensify efforts in unveiling the individuals sponsoring and carrying out attacks on innocent lives for the sake of achieving peace in the country.

Alhassan Muhammad, the State DSS Director in Kano and the convener of the conference, explained that the 14th Quarterly Conference of the State Directors of Security (SDSes) for the Northwest Geopolitical Zone was initiated by the Director General State Services (DGSS), Yusuf Magaji BICHI.

He outlined that the conference aims to enhance operational and intelligence-sharing collaboration among State SSS Directors across different geopolitical zones within the country.

Alhassan Muhammad underscored the complexity and diversity of today’s security concerns, ranging from cybersecurity threats to physical security challenges, terrorism to armed banditry, clashes between farmers and herders, youth unrest, environmental tensions, and political disputes.

The ever-evolving security landscape poses unprecedented challenges to security agencies, as well as to the executive, legislative, judicial, and societal bodies nationwide. Hence, the conference was meticulously structured to feature impactful keynote presentations, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities to promote cooperation and knowledge exchange among SDSes from various states.
