The Approval of N4.7 Billion by Adamawa for the Construction of its First-Ever Stadium

Approval has been granted by the Adamawa State Government for a total of N4.7 billion to be used in completing the construction of its inaugural stadium.

Historically, Adamawa has been one of the few states in its category without a stadium, but the recent allocation of funds is set to alter this narrative.

During an emergency meeting held on Monday, the Adamawa State Executive Council (SEC) sanctioned the release of funds specifically for the finalization of the Jimeta Permanent Stadium, a project that was initiated several decades ago by a previous administration but was overlooked by subsequent governments.

In a media briefing that followed the SEC gathering, overseen by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, the Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mrs. Neido Kufoltu, emphasized that the dedication of the current administration to bring unity among youths and reduce unrest prompted the approval of N4.7 billion for the state-of-the-art stadium’s completion.

Furthermore, an expansion of the scope of work on the ongoing superhighway construction from FGGC Yola junction in Yola South LGA to AA Lawan junction in Yola North was also revealed. An additional N18.8 billion was approved for this project as part of a contract variation, pushing the total new contract sum for the superhighway to N40.6 billion.

Additionally, it was announced during the Monday SEC meeting that the formal transfer of the Certificate of Occupancy of the Federal Medical Centre, Hong to the Federal Ministry of Health had been approved to ensure the seamless commencement of operations at the facility.

Last year, the Federal Government took over and transformed the facility once managed by the state government as the General Hospital, Hong, into the FMC Hong.
