Terry Crews' Wife, Rebecca, Undergoes Double Mastectomy Following Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Following a recent breast cancer diagnosis, Rebecca Crews, the wife of actor Terry Crews, underwent a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery.

During the global Coronavirus pandemic, she received the news and is currently recovering at home in Pasadena, California.

People reports that Rebecca had her surgery on March 3, with her husband by her side. She is now cancer-free, having opted for a double mastectomy instead of radiation treatment.

In a recent interview with People, Crew shared, “Though it was Stage 1, you’re overwhelmed with fear, like cancer is this all-consuming, all-powerful evil entity.”

She also recalled her reaction to the doctor’s call informing her of the diagnosis: “After the call, I had this clear vision of myself stepping through a door, and on the other side of this door, the sun was shining brightly and I was very happy. I just had this sense that I was going to be okay.”

“My husband has watched me go through a lot, but the look on his face … he looked at me like I was going to die,” she revealed. “He told me it felt like his insides were melting. I said, ‘I need you to be strong for me,’ and he said, ‘Okay,’ and hugged me, but I think he needed that hug.”

Rebecca also shared her challenges, including confusing post-mastectomy pain symptoms with those of coronavirus while trying to recover. “I’ve been so nervous, too, because a couple of times I’ve woken up in the middle of the night with trouble breathing and thought, ‘Oh no.’”

Thankfully, her husband of 30 years has been a constant support. “I have to give him his props because he’s been cooking for me, helping me bathe, and just really stepping up,” she commended. “I tease him all the time, I’m like, Did I have to get cancer to be treated like this?!”
