Amidst tension in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, shocking reports have emerged of a student allegedly shot by an unidentified security agent, leaving residents in a state of confusion.
The incident unfolded at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, where the security agent reportedly opened fire on the student, also causing injuries to two other individuals on Tuesday.
According to reports gathered by NewsNow, the security agent had been called in to mediate a dispute between two individuals within the school premises.
While attempting to defuse the situation, the officer allegedly discharged rounds into the air, resulting in the fatal shooting of a student and the injury of two others.
Fueled by outrage, students took to the streets in protest, barricading the school gates and demanding justice for the victim.
The Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, ASP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is currently underway.
In a brief statement released to NewsNow on Tuesday, Osifeso assured, “Investigation is ongoing. Updates will be provided accordingly.”
