Teni reveals the reason behind her gesture towards IBD Dende on the plane

The Nigerian artist Teniola Apata, popularly known as Teni, has shared the rationale behind her act of prostrating to greet Ibrahim Egungbohun Dende, also known as IBD Dende, a prominent businessman and socialite, during a recent plane journey.

There was a backlash against Teni after she posted a video of herself prostrating to greet IBD Dende on a plane through her X handle on Friday.

Many critics criticized her for fraternizing with IBD Dende despite the smuggling allegations leveled against him.

In her response on a Sunday morning, Teni clarified that she was unaware of any illicit activities connected to IBD Dende. She mentioned that the businessman had shown her kindness back in 2014, even before her rise to stardom, and she has held him in high regard ever since.

The singer, known for hits like ‘Askamaya,’ emphasized that she does not endorse criminal behavior.

In her statement, she mentioned, “I first met IBD Dende in 2014, and he was incredibly supportive even before my breakthrough. So, whenever I see him, it’s always a warm interaction.

“I genuinely had no prior knowledge of any criminal involvements linked to him. I stand against criminal activities, and I believe in letting the legal process unfold.”
