Tragic Event in Taraba: 12-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shoots Younger Brother Dead in Jalingo

In a heartbreaking incident in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, a twelve-year-old boy tragically shot his younger brother dead.

The boy, identified as David Kingsley, accidentally shot his six-year-old brother, Solomon Kingsley, on Tuesday evening at their family compound in the Nukkai area of Jalingo metropolis.

Despite attempts by journalists to speak with the children’s father, he declined to comment due to the grief he is experiencing.

The Acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba Command, Kwache Gambo, requested patience as the Command had not yet released an official statement on the incident.

Local residents recounted how they panicked and went into hiding upon hearing the gunshot, mistaking it for an attack by bandits or kidnappers.

While it was confirmed that David unintentionally shot his younger brother, the source of the gun remains unknown as their father was not a security personnel.

This unfortunate event comes shortly after a similar tragedy in Didango Geita village, where three children lost their lives due to an accidental discharge from a dane gun they were reportedly playing with.
