Charges Filed Against Surveyors Council’s President for Abuse of Office

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has accused Joseph Olorunjuwon Agbenla, the President of Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SCN), of alleged abuse of office.   A four-count charge has been filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) against the former Permanent Secretary / Surveyor-General of Lagos State. It is alleged that he received about N5 million as allowances for conferences he did not attend.   The ICPC has filed the case which has now been assigned to Justice A. O. Obong.

Reports from Bayelsa State indicate that a Nigerian police officer, stationed at a bank in Ekeki Area, Yenagoa, allegedly shot and killed a member of the Nigeria Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Monday evening.   During an altercation, the police officer also shot a driver from Peace Mass transit, causing severe injuries.   These events unfolded on January 6, 2020.
