A new set of charges has been filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against Hadi Sirika, the former Minister of Aviation, along with his brother, Ahmad Sirika, and their company, Enginos Nigeria Limited, for an alleged fraud amounting to over N19.4 billion. It is alleged that this sum was related to multiple contracts within the aviation ministry that were awarded by the former minister to Enginos Nigeria Limited, a company owned by Sirika's younger brother, Abubakar. According to the latest March Cooking Gas Price Watch by the National Bureau of Statistics, the average cost of refilling a 12.5-kilogram Cylinder of Liquefied Petroleum Gas, known as Cooking gas, has risen by 55.22% to N15,929.04 this March from N10,262.56 in the same month a year ago. In a month-on-month analysis, the price of cooking gas in March 2024 increased by 5.77% to N15,929.04, up from N15,060.38 in February.
