Philip Agbese, the deputy spokesperson of the House of Representatives, has been selected to lead the Nigeria-Finland Parliamentary Friendship Group as its chairman. Following an incident of attempted murder, the Ekiti State High court in Ado Ekiti has handed down a life imprisonment sentence to a man named Akinyemi Ojo. On 25th January 2023, the 43-year-old defendant stood before Justice Blessing Ajileye facing a single charge related to the attempted murder. The charge against Akinyemi Ojo states that on 5th December 2022 in Aramoko Ekiti, within the jurisdiction of the court, he attempted to murder an individual named David Faith by attacking her with a machete. A 75-year-old grandpa named Jibril Audu was apprehended by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, for having 7.5 kilograms of cannabis at Oke-asa village in Ijero-Ekiti, Ekiti State, as per an announcement made by Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, on Sunday. At Abule Ado in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos state, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, reported the interception of three trailer loads of opioids. The seizure included a total of 3,450,000 pills and 344,000 bottles of codeine syrup. According to the agency, the valuable consignments, worth billions of Naira, were found in two 40-ft container trucks and another 20-ft truck at the AML bonded terminal, Abule-Osun.
