Elevation of Judges: Minister’s Wife and CJN’s Daughter-in-Law Among Nominees
Amidst concerns raised by various civil society groups and individuals, Justice Nyesom-Wike Eberechi Suzzette, the wife of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has been recommended by the National Judicial Council (NJC) for elevation to the Court of Appeal. The NJC also nominated Ariwoola Oluwakemi Victoria, the daughter-in-law of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, for a judgeship in the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.
Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who is set to retire from the judiciary in August, presided over the NJC meeting where these nominations were made.
