Charges Filed Against Surveyors Council’s President for Abuse of Office

The Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) has accused Joseph Olorunjuwon Agbenla, the President of Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SCN), of alleged abuse of office.   A four-count charge has been filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) against the former Permanent Secretary / Surveyor-General of Lagos State. It is alleged that he received about N5 million as allowances for conferences he did not attend.   The ICPC has filed the case which has now been assigned to Justice A. O. Obong.

Shooting Incident In Bayelsa Involving Police Officer, Corps Member, and Driver

Reports from Bayelsa State indicate that a Nigerian police officer, stationed at a bank in Ekeki Area, Yenagoa, allegedly shot and killed a member of the Nigeria Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Monday evening.   During an altercation, the police officer also shot a driver from Peace Mass transit, causing severe injuries.   These events unfolded on January 6, 2020. The officer, who was assigned to the commercial bank in Yenagoa, engaged in a dispute with a commercial bus driver over parking. After being captured in a viral video assaulting a young man for refusing to unlock his iPhone in Enugu, three police officers have been paraded following their arrest. Recall LIB reported earlier that the incident occurred on January 4 along Kenyatta Street, Uwani, Enugu. The Enugu Police Commissioner Mr Ahmed Abdurahman, paraded the officers before newsmen on Monday January 6 and stated that a panel of inquiry has been constituted for their orderly room trial.
