Syria: a country mired in chaos, uncertainty and hope

Nearly fifty bodies have been found with signs of having been recently executed in the Sednaya prisonabout 30 kilometers from Damascus and famous for its torture, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Situation of chaos and uncertainty after the overthrow of Bashar Al Assad by the rebels, which has led the UN special envoy for Syria to make a call for peace and ask that the priority for the new Syria without Al Assad be prevent the different armed groups from leading the country into a new civil war and therefore miss this opportunity for change.

The UN special envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, recalled this Tuesday from Geneva that “at the height of the fighting there were more than 1200 different armed groups”. And he assures that at that time, in 2011, no one could predict what would happen next. Of course, the UN envoy recognizes that the messages from the rebel group responsible for the fall of Al Assad (former affiliate of Al Qaeda) “are encouraging.”
