Survivor reveals Malian and other occupants fled just before explosion

Among the survivors of the Ibadan explosion, one disclosed that the Malian responsible for the explosives fled shortly before the blast.

The victim recounted that the Malian and his household members vacated the building without warning the neighbors upon seeing it engulfed in flames.

These revelations were made to security officials at the site of the incident.

The explosion took place at a residential premise in Dejo Oyelese close, Bodija Housing Estate, Ibadan on Tuesday.

The tragedy resulted in the loss of at least five lives and left several others injured. Additionally, properties worth millions of naira were destroyed, leading to the displacement of hundreds of individuals.

Recently, Barrister Muideen Olalekan Olagunju, a former member of Oyo State House of Assembly, identified the occupant of the building as a Malian named Sawane Youssouf.

Speaking out, one of the blast survivors, Muhammad Dalesi, conveyed that the Malian and his associates departed just before the explosion occurred.

Dalesi expressed, “One guy, I saw him at the front of the house, he came out. I saw him at the front of the house, one of the residents. He is a young guy. I knew that there could be explosives.”

He continued, “All of a sudden, I just heard Gboom! As at the time I came out, there was nobody in the building. They have all gone. When the house was burning, you know you will alert the neighbors, you will say fire, fire, they did not alert anybody.”
