Super Eagles striker criticized by Chris Sutton for missing opportunities

Chris Sutton, a former Celtic striker, has slammed Super Eagles forward Cyriel Dessers for failing to convert goal-scoring chances.

Sutton expressed concern that Dessers’ missed opportunities could potentially hinder Rangers in their pursuit of the Scottish Premiership title, which would be their first since the 2020-2021 season.

During Sunday’s match against Rangers Kilmarnock, Dessers played the full 90 minutes but was unable to find the back of the net.

Since joining Ibrox, Dessers has faced criticism for his tendency to squander clear scoring opportunities.

“Regarding Dessers, Kris has been consistently highlighting his tendency to miss chances throughout the season,” Sutton remarked in an interview with Rangers News on Sky Sports.

“In this game, he had multiple opportunities to take a shot on goal immediately, as most natural finishers would do. Instead, he always opts to cut back.

“The upcoming game is crucial, and the outcome may hinge on a decisive moment from the striker. Whether Rangers emerge victorious or not could come down to that,” he added.
