Successful Police Raid Leads to Arrest of 109 Illegal Miners in Nasarawa State

Recently, a successful raid was carried out on a suspected kidnappers’ den at Alogani mountains in Nasarawa State. The operation was led by CP Umar Shehu Nadada, the Commissioner of Police in collaboration with the Vigilante group of Nasarawa Eggon LGA.

According to a press release signed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State, the raid targeted a mountain stretch known to be used by kidnappers as a hideout. Despite the absence of the kidnappers, the raid resulted in the arrest of 109 suspects engaged in illegal mining of solid minerals like Topaz, Tin, and Aquamarine.

The suspects were found with various items including a Dane gun, cutlasses, knives, and illegally mined solid minerals, all of which were recovered as exhibits. Following their arrest, the suspects are currently being profiled, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain their involvement in other criminal activities.

The Commissioner of Police has affirmed the command’s commitment to continuous clampdowns and raids on criminal hideouts in the state, warning all criminals to desist from their activities.
