Successful operation in Zamfara results in death of 12 terrorists

In an operation targeting terrorism in the North West, troops of the Nigerian Army eliminated 12 terrorists and demolished their camp in Zamfara State. The Director of the Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, made this revelation in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence regarding the terrorists’ activities. Troops conducted a precise clearance mission to dismantle the suspected terrorists’ operational hub situated in Maru town.

Engaging the terrorists in a fierce gunfight, the brave troops neutralized 12 of the terrorists, forcing the rest to flee. Subsequently, the troops razed the terrorists’ base after driving them out.

Weapons recovered from the scene included an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, 12 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two locally crafted guns. Additionally, ten motorcycles and 18 rustled cows were also retrieved.

The statement reiterated the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to combat terrorism and insurgency, emphasizing the significance of this successful operation.

It affirmed, “The achievement of this operation showcases the unwavering dedication of our troops in the battle against terrorism and insurgency. The Nigerian Army will persist in safeguarding the welfare and security of our citizens, taking resolute measures to suppress terrorist activities in the area.”

PUNCH previously reported on troops’ incursion and obliteration of the hideout belonging to the notorious terrorist leader, Yellow Janbros, in Zamfara State. Janbros was notorious for conducting kidnappings and other terrorist activities in various parts of north-western Nigeria.
