Success for Police as Missing Children in Abia are Rescued and Suspects Arrested

In a positive development, the Abia State Police Command has successfully rescued three siblings – Gideon Osinachi (aged eight), Obioma Osinachi (aged six), and Israel Osinachi (aged four) – who were abducted by an unidentified commercial motorcyclist back in May in Amoba Okoro village, situated in the Ikwuanno Local Government Area of the state.

The siblings had gone missing on May 10, after the motorcyclist hired by their grandmother to transport them back home following a visit, took them away.

In a statement made on Saturday, the state’s Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, disclosed that the children were located and rescued in the states of Anambra and Delta.

Chinaka also revealed that arrests have been made in connection to the crime, including a Reverend Sister and four other suspects.

The statement mentioned, “The process of investigation and rescue efforts for the children spanned from 10/05/2024 to 13/06/2024. During this timeframe, four female suspects and one male suspect were apprehended in relation to the incident.

“The suspects were taken into custody at different locations, namely Amawbia and Nkpor in Anambra State, as well as Warri in Delta State. Among those arrested are Reverend Sister Pauline Alozie (female), Chizoba DJ (female), Glory Umuna (female), Mrs. Georgina Nonye Okoye (female), and Philip Ibe (male). They are currently in detention and will soon face legal charges.”

Expressing gratitude for the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders, such as the Mayor of Ikwuano LGA, Mr. Osinachi Nwaka, and Abia State Homeland Security, and others that contributed to the successful rescue, Chinaka urged the public to prioritize security and ensure the safety of children.
