South South leader, Sara-Igbe, slams 27 Rivers lawmakers, claims Tinubu lacks power to reinstate

Sara-Igbe, the National Coordinator of the South-South Leadership Forum, has stated that the 27 Rivers State lawmakers are considered impostors under the law.

On Wednesday, the political turmoil in Rivers escalated with the election of a new Speaker by two House of Assembly members loyal to Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The crisis ensued following attempts to impeach Governor Fubara by the pro-Wike lawmakers who switched to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In an interview on Arise TV, Sara-Igbe asserted that the lawmakers lack the authority to impeach Fubara, emphasizing that they are now deemed impostors by law.

He criticized the legislators, questioning their commitment to upholding laws given their actions. Sara-Igbe highlighted the ongoing legal battle to challenge the legitimacy of the 27 lawmakers.

The South South leader also criticized President Tinubu, stating that he doesn’t have the jurisdiction to override the decisions of a court. He called the lawmakers’ actions illegal and asserted that they no longer hold their positions in the House of Assembly.

He urged the lawmakers to await the court’s ruling and not engage in legislative activities until a legal resolution is reached.

According to Sara-Igbe, the lawmakers’ allegiance to Governor Wike has led to their attempts to manipulate laws to suit their agenda, which he deemed unlawful and unconstitutional.
