In the wake of Bayern Munich’s 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final second leg, goalkeeper Manuel Neuer admits to feeling remorseful for his error that allowed Real Madrid to equalize.
Bayern took the lead in the second half with a goal from Alphonso Davies.
However, Neuer’s mishandling of Vinicius Jr’s shot led to Joselu scoring the equalizer.
Joselu later capitalized on Antonio Rudiger’s delivery to score again, securing Real Madrid’s spot in the final against Borussia Dortmund.
Speaking to DAZN, Neuer expressed, “Anyone who has played football understands the emotions I am experiencing at this moment.”
“To be eliminated in the dying minutes, after holding a 1-0 lead until the 88th minute, is incredibly disappointing,” he added.
“We were so close to London, we had envisioned ourselves in the final, and now I am at a loss for words.”
