Soludo Reflects on Daughter’s Marriage: “She’s the First in 142 Years”

The recent marriage of Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s daughter, Adaora, in his hometown of Osuofia, Aguata Local Government Area, was a significant event for the governor of Anambra State.

Among the attendees were distinguished guests, primarily from Soludo’s administration and members of his in-laws from Onitsha.

Sharing the news on his verified Facebook account, Soludo revealed that this traditional union marks a rare occurrence in his family’s history spanning over 142 years.

He attributed this exceptional event to the limited number of female offspring in his lineage, a trend broken by the birth of four daughters whom he considers a blessing from God.

Expressing his joy, Soludo wrote: “In the presence of my family, kinsmen, friends, and in-laws from Onitsha, I joyfully united my beloved daughter, Ifeatu Adaora Soludo, with her partner following all traditional rituals in accordance with Isuofia customs.”

He continued, “I commemorate this historic moment for two reasons. Firstly, the Soludo family has been graced with such a marital union after 142 years (as per my estimation).

“The rarity of female descendants over the past three generations within the Soludo family has been a prevailing trend. To alter this pattern, God has graciously bestowed upon me four wonderful daughters whom I cherish every day.”

By bestowing his daughter’s hand in marriage to Arinze Ibekwe, now his son-in-law, Soludo welcomed another member into his family.
