Three individuals apprehended by So-Safe Corps in Ogun for robbery

Members of a gang of armed robbers who have been causing fear among the residents of Iroko/Arije in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State have been apprehended by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, widely known as So-Safe Corps.

The three individuals taken into custody are Abayomi Micheal David, known as Scofield, aged 37, residing at 33, Unity Road, Abule Ijoko; Sam Oluwatobi, aged 24, living at 24, Blessed Estate, Alayapupo Street, off Oyero Road, Ijoko; and Oluwatosin Atilola, also called Tosine, aged 37, residing at 168, Nascon Road, Ijoko Ota.

An official statement released on Thursday by the State Commander of the Corps, Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, confirmed the arrests.

According to reports, the suspects were captured on April 16, 2024, following a prompt response to a distress call from the community by operatives from the So Safe officers stationed at Iroko/Arije Divisional Headquarters.

Residents had raised an alarm about armed robbers who were terrorizing them, forcefully taking their phones and other valuable possessions at gunpoint.

Upon receiving this information, the Ado Odo Ota Zonal Commander of the Corps, ACC Tajudeen Odunmbaku, instructed the officers to apprehend the crime suspects.

An operation team swiftly moved in and successfully captured three out of the four suspected armed robbers,” as stated in the press release.

Ganzallo mentioned in the statement that the fourth suspect, Obani Desmond, also known as Kokolet, is still at large but is not new to criminal activities.

He further disclosed that during initial questioning, the apprehended suspects allegedly identified Desmond as their leader, and efforts are underway to bring him to justice.

Recovered items from the suspects include two empty and one live red star cartridge, a locally-made stainless cut-to-size pistol, and a motorbike.

The suspects and seized items have been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, Sango Divisional Police Headquarters, for further investigation and prosecution.
