Discussion between NCC and JAMB for special SIM card for students

NCC and the Registrar of JAMB are currently in discussions about providing a customized SIM card for students with limited features.

The Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, revealed this information.

Professor Oloyede emphasized the importance of students’ registered phone numbers, stating that these SIM cards are essential for carrying out sensitive tasks.

During a press conference in Lagos, the Registrar introduced a new process for accepting admissions.

He explained, “Candidates can send either ACCEPT or REJECT from their dedicated phone line to 55019/66019, or personally accept or reject any admission offer (including program changes) by verifying their fingerprint at an authorized CBT center or any JAMB office.”

“These innovative methods for admission decisions aim to protect candidates’ data and uphold the integrity of the admission process,” he added.

“Given this new approach, the importance of students’ registered phone numbers (SIM) has increased, as it is now crucial for carrying out more sensitive tasks. We are currently in talks with NCC to create dedicated SIMs for students with limited functionalities.”

Out of the 1,842,464 candidates whose results from the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination were released by JAMB, 77% scored below 200.
