Six Men Arrested for Stealing Motorbikes in Ekiti

In a recent development, the Ekiti State police force has apprehended six individuals involved in the theft of motorbikes from riders within the Ikere/Ado-Ekiti and Igede-Ekiti areas of the state.

The suspects, identified as Adebayo Bashiru, Oluyemi Kunle, Gabriel Isaac, Abubakar Abdullahi, Macon Andrew, and Peter Ninfa, were captured by the Command’s Rapid Response Squad based on a tip-off, according to a statement released by the state Commissioner of Police, Adeniran Akinwale, through the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu.

Upon interrogation, the suspects admitted to snatching numerous motorcycles in the Ikere/Ado/Igede-Ekiti region. Additionally, they implicated Lawali Ibrahim and Kabiru Abdullahi as their cohorts who purchase the stolen motorcycles from them.

The police commissioner affirmed that a thorough investigation would be conducted, and all individuals associated with the motorbike theft ring would be apprehended. The arrested suspects will face legal charges once the investigations are completed.

Recent reports have highlighted the rising incidents of motorcycle thefts in Ado Ekiti and surrounding areas. As a result, the police commissioner has urged vigilance among residents, motorbike owners, and riders, instructing his team to bolster their efforts to capture the perpetrators.

It is worth noting that earlier on April 25, the Oye Divisional Police Headquarters, alongside residents from Trinity Hostel Area, Oye-Ekiti, successfully detained another suspected motorcycle thief named Bernard Shadrach.
