An alleged herbalist, Idris Sule Shaye, aged forty-five, was apprehended by the Ondo state police command for his suspected involvement in human parts trafficking.

Speaking to the press while presenting the suspect, Tee-Leo Ikoro, the spokesperson for the state police command, disclosed that Shaye was nabbed following a report from his neighbor, Ahmed Odere, who noticed an offensive smell in their residence at the Owani area of Idoani and alerted the authorities.

“Odere inspected the tenants in the compound, none of whom could account for the source of the odor. Concerned, they alerted the landlord, Abu Abedo, who conducted a thorough search of everyone’s room. Although nothing was uncovered during the initial sweep, it was subsequently found that Mr. Shaye was absent. Upon locating him, he was escorted back to his apartment where the source of the smell was traced. A sack bag containing burnt flesh, human head, and two hands was discovered,” Ikoro stated.

Shaye was promptly arrested. Upon interrogation, he confessed to the police that he had been engaged by two brothers, Dipo Jimoh and Damaka Jimoh, to procure a human skull.

“It was Dipo and Damaka who approached me to assist them in severing the head and hands of a deceased individual in the Isua-Akoko area. They informed me that their father required human body parts and promised me payment upon successful retrieval. However, the police apprehended me before I could deliver the items to them,” Shaye explained.

The police have indicated that investigations are underway and the suspect will soon be brought before the court.
