Benjamin Mendy of Manchester City placed in self-isolation due to family member’s potential coronavirus case

Following a family member’s potential coronavirus case, Manchester City’s French defender, Benjamin Mendy, has entered self-isolation.

The 25-year-old player will abstain from City’s training until receiving clearance.

Paramedics visited Mendy’s residence in Cheshire on Thursday, prompting the French international to take precautionary self-isolation measures until the COVID-19 test results are revealed.

A representative from the club stated: ‘The club can confirm that a family member of a men’s team player is in hospital with symptoms of a respiratory illness.’

‘The individual has undergone tests at hospital, one of which is for Covid-19. Until the results are known, the player in question is self-isolating as a precaution.’

In other news, Chelsea footballer, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta have tested positive for coronavirus.
