Herbalist arrested with human parts in Ondo (photo)

The Ondo state police command has apprehended a 45-year-old suspected herbalist, Idris Sule Shaye, for allegedly engaging in the trade of human parts.

Addressing journalists while parading the suspect, the spokesperson for the state police command, Tee-Leo Ikoro, revealed that Shaye was detained following a report from his neighbor, Ahmed Odere, who noticed a repugnant odor emanating from their residence in the Owani area of Idoani and alerted the police.

“Odere asked the tenants living in the compound, but none could identify the source of the odor. They brought the issue to the attention of the landlord, Abu Abedo, who conducted a search of every tenant’s room. Although nothing incriminating was found initially, it was later discovered that Mr. Shaye was conspicuously absent. Subsequently, they located him and escorted him to his apartment, where they stumbled upon a sack containing charred flesh, a human head, and two hands,” Ikoro stated.

Shaye was taken into custody, and during questioning, he confessed to the police that two siblings, Dipo Jimoh and Damaka Jimoh, had commissioned him to obtain a human skull.

“Dipo and Damaka approached me to sever the head and hands of a deceased individual in the Isua-Akoko area. They mentioned that their father required human body parts and promised me a reward for acquiring them. However, I was apprehended by the police before I could deliver the requested items to them,” Shaye disclosed.

The police assured that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will soon face charges in court.
