Shila Boys Gang: 49 Arrested, Including Girls, in Yola

In a recent development, police in Adamawa State have apprehended 49 individuals linked to the notorious Shila Boys gang. Typically consisting of teenagers and occasionally adolescents, the gang is notorious for targeting residents and robbing them of their phones and other valuables.

Surprisingly, among the 49 suspects, two are girls, marking a departure from the traditional perception of Shila Boys as an all-male group. The Adamawa State Police Command, as announced by the Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, conducted successful operations leading to these arrests.

The crackdown targeted criminal hideouts and notorious areas in the state capital, including Geriyo Junction, Doubeli Junction, Jambutu Aso Rock, Behind Ramat College, and Total Flyover in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area.

SP Nguroje reaffirmed the commitment of the Adamawa State Police Commissioner Dankombo Morris to combat the menace of the Shila gang and ensure the safety of the public with continued efforts and strategies.

Reports suggest that the activities of the Shila Boys have escalated recently, prompting discussions on implementing additional measures to curb their criminal activities. The gang has evolved their modus operandi by using cars to intercept and rob pedestrians, a shift from their previous use of tricycles for such crimes.

Furthermore, their inclusion of girls in their operations is a new tactic to lure unsuspecting victims, taking advantage of the public perception that Shila Boys operate exclusively with male members.
