‘Seyi Law Criticizes Tinubu Regarding Cybersecurity Levy’

Popular Nigerian comedian, Seyi Law, expressed frustration over the recent 0.5% cybersecurity levy imposed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

According to reports by NewsNow, the CBN instructed banks in the country to implement the cybersecurity levy on transactions.

Seyi Law described the new policy by the apex bank as “unacceptable” and called for a reassessment.

In a message directed at President Bola Tinubu, the comedian appealed for the easing of financial burdens on the masses, questioning the delay in announcing and implementing a new minimum wage.

He criticized certain ministers for their perceived underperformance, highlighting the lack of significant progress one year into the administration.

Through his platform, Seyi Law emphasized his displeasure with government agencies failing to effectively communicate policies to the public, leading to misinformation circulating regarding the cybersecurity levy, which ranges from 0.5% to 3%.

He voiced concerns over the 0.5% charge, stating that it imposes an excessive burden on Nigerians and may discourage digital transactions, favoring cash transactions instead.

Seyi Law called for a reconsideration of the levy by the CBN and criticized the introduction of additional charges such as stamp duty.

Addressing the President and other officials, he urged for immediate action on announcing and implementing the new minimum wage, suggesting that some ministers may need to seek alternative employment due to perceived inefficiencies.
