Severe rainstorm causes injuries to three individuals and damages 200 houses in Plateau

In Miango District of Bassa Local Government in Plateau State, a rainstorm has resulted in injuries to three people and destruction of over 200 houses.

The Publicity Secretary of the Miango Youth Development Association, Nuhu Nga, informed the News Agency of Nigeria about the unfortunate incident that took place on Monday afternoon.

The affected structures include residential buildings, a clinic, schools, shops, and livestock shelters, as mentioned by Nga.

Economic trees were uprooted by the rainstorm, leaving many individuals stranded and causing damage to belongings such as documents, household items, and construction materials like cement.

While there were no fatalities, three individuals sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.

Some of those affected have sought shelter in the homes of their neighbors.

The devastation caused by the rainstorm has compounded the challenges faced by the Miango community, which has previously endured violent attacks and displacement of its residents over the years.

Calls have been made to the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and the Local Government Council to provide assistance to those affected.

Appeals have also been directed towards non-governmental organizations and compassionate individuals to urgently support the affected individuals, particularly as the rainy season continues to pose threats.
