Senator Urges Transparent Trial for Bandits

Senator Sunday Katung, a member of the PDP representing Kaduna South, has emphasized the importance of conducting open trials for bandits who are causing chaos among the innocent population in the country.

During his visit to the Ambe community in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State to offer condolences after a recent attack during a wedding party resulting in the death of six people and injuries to seven others at the hands of bandits, Katung urged for transparency in their prosecution.

Katung strongly believes that publicly trying the bandits would not only reveal their identities to the public but also act as a deterrent to others contemplating engaging in similar criminal activities.

The senator commended the courageous youths of the community for apprehending one of the suspected attackers and urged law enforcement to identify and arrest the masterminds behind the brutal attack to face justice.

He also warned community members against colluding with bandits to harm their own community, emphasizing that those involved in such betrayals will face repercussions in due time.

Additionally, Mr. Daniel Amos, the representative of Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency, expressed sympathy for the deceased and announced his intention to cover the medical expenses of the injured individuals.

He further pledged to collaborate with Katung to ensure the approval of re-establishing a military camp within the community to bolster security measures.

Amos explained that reinstating a military presence in the area would instill confidence in the residents of Ambe and neighboring communities to resume their farming activities without fear.

Prior to this, Mr. Micah Audi, the youth leader of Ambe, praised the lawmakers for standing in solidarity with the community during their time of mourning, as reported by NAN.
