Senator Nwebonyi Advocates for Implementation of State Police

Supporting the adoption of State Police, Senator Peter Onyekachi Nwebonyi representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District and the Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Nigerian Senate, emphasized the necessity during an interview on AIT’s “Inside Parliament” program held at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja on Tuesday, May 7, 2024.

Highlighting the increasing security challenges in the country, Senator Nwebonyi, who is also a member of the Senate Constitution Review Committee, stressed the importance of State Police to complement the efforts of the Federal Police.

Regarding the proposed hike in electricity tariffs, Senator Nwebonyi expressed his opposition, labeling it as insensitive given the prevailing economic hardships faced by Nigerians.

Furthermore, as the Nigerian representative at the ECOWAS parliament, he urged citizens to have confidence in President Tinubu’s administration, assuring that the economic policies in place will yield beneficial results for all.

Discussing the ongoing constitutional amendment, Senator Nwebonyi emphasized the need to address governance loopholes present in the current constitution, emphasizing its military origins.

He also predicted positive outcomes from the 2024 budget, promising that Nigerians will soon reap the benefits of the financial allocations outlined in the budget.

Senator Nwebonyi conveyed optimism for the future, stating, “Nigerians should anticipate positive developments as the budget implementation progresses in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda.”
