Scuffle Erupts during APC Primary Election

At Stella Maris College, Okitipupa, chaos ensued between rival supporters of two All Progressives Congress aspirants vying for the party’s candidacy in the forthcoming November 16 Ondo State Governorship election.

Despite the large turnout of accredited party members ready to engage in the candidate selection process, the situation turned volatile as violence erupted between the conflicting groups.

According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, the accreditation and election procedures had yet to commence when the brawl broke out, causing voters to scatter in search of safety.

Speaking on condition of anonymity, an accredited voter disclosed to NAN that an aspirant’s representative arrived at the ward, seized the validation and accreditation documents, and hastily departed, triggering the commotion.

“An agent abruptly took control of the validation and accreditation papers before fleeing in his vehicle,” the source revealed. “Despite efforts to pursue him, he managed to evade capture, instigating the outbreak of violence.”

Security personnel stationed at the venue were unable to quell the unrest, leading to the dispersal of all attendees from the scene.
