Russia Adds President Zelenskyy of Ukraine to Wanted List

The Russian Interior Ministry database has reportedly placed Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on its wanted list without disclosing further information, as per the state news agency, TASS.

Simultaneously, Russia has initiated a criminal case against Zelenskyy, prompting a stern response from Ukraine, dismissing the report as a sign of Moscow’s desperation.

Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry highlighted that Russian President Vladimir Putin could also face arrest under an International Criminal Court warrant, countering the accusations made by Russia.

Addressing the situation, the ministry stated, “Unlike the baseless Russian allegations, the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrant for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin over alleged war crimes is substantial and enforceable across 123 countries.”

Furthermore, the ministry criticized the Russian announcement as a reflection of the Russian state’s desperation, resorting to sensationalism to gain attention through propaganda.

Russia had previously issued arrest warrants in February 2022 for several Ukrainian and European politicians, including Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, Lithuania’s culture minister, and members of the former Latvian parliament, accusing them of destroying Soviet-era monuments.
