Rio Ferdinand’s Condition for Jadon Sancho’s Return to Manchester United

In a recent discussion, former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand made it clear that the possibility of Jadon Sancho reuniting with the club is hinged on the departure of manager Erik ten Hag.

Jadon Sancho, who had a strained relationship with Ten Hag, made the decision to move back to Borussia Dortmund earlier this year.

Despite experiencing mixed fortunes at Old Trafford following his £73 million transfer in 2021, Sancho displayed his skills during his loan spell at Dortmund, notably making an impact in their Champions League campaign.

While there were talks of a permanent move to Dortmund for the 24-year-old, recent performances have sparked conversations about a potential continuation at United.

Ferdinand is of the opinion that Sancho’s comeback is unlikely as long as Ten Hag remains at the helm. He believes such a reunion would undermine the authority of the Dutch manager due to their previous conflicts.

Speaking on TNT Sports before Dortmund’s 1-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semi-final, Ferdinand stated, “I think the only scenario where he returns to Manchester United is if Erik ten Hag is no longer in charge.

“I don’t think they can disrespect the manager by allowing a player who hasn’t apologized back into the team.”
