Retirement Announcement from Former Super Eagles Winger

NewsNow reports that Sone Aluko, former Super Eagles winger, has officially announced his retirement from professional football.

At 35 years old, Aluko made this retirement declaration during Ipswich Town’s end-of-season dinner.

In expressing his sentiments, he noted, “I couldn’t have chosen a better place to conclude my career.”

Reflecting on his time at Ipswich Town, he added, “The club is truly exceptional in every aspect. It has been a privilege to be part of this team. While I may not have played as much as I had hoped, this has undeniably been the most fulfilling year of my career.”

He warmly addressed his fellow teammates, saying, “To all the lads, I hold each one of you dear, even you, Harry Clarke (the Ipswich manager who provided limited playing time).”

Aluko had a diverse career, featuring stints with clubs such as Rangers, Aberdeen, Hull City, Fulham, and Reading, as well as a loan period in China with Beijing Renhe.

Initially representing England at the youth level, he later switched his international allegiance to Nigeria, where he scored two goals in seven appearances with the Super Eagles.
