Investigation into the Death of a Four-Year-Old Brickhall School Pupil Initiated by House of Representatives

Following the tragic passing of a four-year-old student, Miguel Ovoke, at Brickhall School in Abuja, the House of Representatives has decided to launch an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A special Ad-hoc Committee will be established by the House to delve into the factors that led to the untimely demise of young Ovoke. The committee is expected to conclude its investigation within four weeks and provide a report for further legislative consideration.

During the plenary session on Wednesday, Hon. Kelechi Nwogu put forward a motion which was adopted, prompting the resolution of the House to commence the investigation.

Nwogu highlighted that Ovoke had been dropped off at the school by his mother on April 24, 2024. He expressed dismay over the school’s inability to provide a valid explanation for the suspicious circumstances surrounding the child’s death.

Concerns were raised by Nwogu regarding the allegations made by the deceased boy’s parents, who accused the school administration of colluding with the Nigerian Police in a possible cover-up.

The impact of young Ovoke’s sudden demise on his family and classmates was also emphasized, underscoring the traumatic repercussions.

Additionally, the lawmaker voiced apprehension about the potential tarnishing of the country’s reputation on the global stage if such incidents are not addressed promptly.
