Remarkable Event: Mentally Challenged Woman Delivers Baby in Anambra (See Photos)

A baby boy was born to a mentally challenged woman after she was rescued and quickly taken to Onitsha General Hospital.

 

Following a distress call from a concerned citizen, Lady Ndidi Mezue, the Anambra State Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, sprung into action and provided assistance to the lady.

 

Vincent O Ezechukwu, Governor Willie Obiano’s Special Assistant on New Media, also revealed that another heavily pregnant mentally challenged woman was rescued by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs and has been relocated to a government facility for proper care until her delivery.

 

The Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs stated;

 

During the weekend, Saturday 11/1/2020, the Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs, with the help of compassionate individuals, rescued a heavily pregnant mentally challenged woman in Onitsha. She gave birth to a healthy baby boy a few hours after her rescue.

The distressed pregnant woman was spotted by a concerned citizen who promptly informed the Honorable Commissioner, Lady Ndidi Mezue. On receiving the call, the Commissioner took swift action and sought assistance, ensuring the woman was swiftly taken to Onitsha General Hospital by the Women Development Officer (WDO)Of Onitsha North local government area and a nurse, where she delivered a bouncing baby boy.

In a related development in Awka, the ministry’s security team rescued another heavily pregnant mentally challenged woman. Upon receiving this information, the Honorable Commissioner ordered for the woman to be relocated to a government facility where she will be cared for until her due date of delivery.
