Rejection of Consensus PDP Chairmanship Candidate in Kogi by Group

Rejecting Mona Anyebe as the consensus chairmanship candidate of the party in Kogi State is the stand of the Kogi State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Youth Frontier.

In a statement issued in Lokoja on Saturday, signed by President Umar Francis, the group insisted that the chairmanship should be filled by one of the candidates who went through the screening process.

Francis pointed out that, “Any individual who didn’t undergo this process cannot stand to benefit from it.”

Highlighting their concerns, Francis mentioned that a petition was submitted to the state caretaker committee and the national party headquarters, with evidence showing Mona Anyebe’s suspension from his Ogugu Ward in Olamaboro Local Government due to anti-party activities, supported by all the ward executives.

He added, “The issue remained unaddressed. Moreover, during the delegate meeting in Lokoja on Monday, 29th April 2024, the elders’ committee report was unanimously rejected for various reasons. Handing over the PDP state chairman position to an ill-equipped outsider with negative reports from his ward executives is not acceptable.”

“The former governors, Alh. Ibrahim Idris and Capt. Idris Wada, need to resolve matters related to Capt. Joe Agada and Hon. Tony Amego among themselves instead of bringing in a new candidate from Olamaboro Local Government with a questionable background,” Francis emphasized.

He urged party leaders to ensure a fair election process for party delegates to choose the next chairman of Kogi State.
