Recent Attack by Hamas on Kerem Shalom Border with Israel

On Tuesday, the Israeli border crossing at Kerem Shalom was targeted by rockets launched by the Qassam Brigades, the military faction of Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist group.

The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported that the attacks triggered warning sirens in the area, with the Qassam Brigades claiming responsibility for the assault.

Initial reports from the IDF did not include any information on casualties resulting from the attack.

This recent incident follows a previous attack on Kerem Shalom by the Qassam Brigades on Sunday, which involved approximately 10 rockets that resulted in the deaths of four Israeli soldiers and injuries to others.

Kerem Shalom serves as a critical border crossing for the transfer of aid from Israel into the Gaza Strip and was subsequently closed after the attack on Sunday.

Prior to the most recent attack, an Israeli military official had stated that the crossing remained closed while efforts were underway to reopen it as quickly as possible.

In response to warnings from international aid organizations regarding food shortages among civilians in the Gaza Strip, Israel has increased the delivery of aid supplies to the region in recent weeks.
