Rapper DaBaby arrested in connection with robbery in Miami

Rapper DaBaby has been arrested in connection with a robbery in Miami. The Grammy-nominated artist, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, was taken into custody by Miami police on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

Miami police spokeswoman Kenia Fallat confirmed that DaBaby was detained and brought to the Miami police headquarters for questioning regarding a robbery investigation that took place around 12:30 PM on Thursday. Following the interrogation, he was arrested for battery in connection to the robbery investigation, with his bond set at $1,500.

Reportedly, the alleged victim in the robbery case is a concert promoter who had arranged to meet DaBaby and his crew to settle payment for a performance. However, according to TMZ, the rapper believed the promoter had shortchanged him by several thousand dollars, leading to a confrontation.

This arrest comes shortly after DaBaby was also arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, following a performance at the Bojangles’ Coliseum. He was apprehended for marijuana possession, but DaBaby claims that he was unfairly targeted and harassed by the police in his home state.
