Protesters in Jigawa Remanded in Prison for Two Weeks


In a court session held in Dutse, Jigawa State, protesters were ordered to be imprisoned for a two-week period.

Magistrate Auwalu Sani mandated the detention of Umar Danjani, who is believed to have played a leading role in the violent demonstrations in Jigawa State, at Birnin Kudu Prison for a fortnight.

According to a report by NewsNow, what began as a peaceful protest in the state escalated into violence, resulting in the loss of two lives, numerous injuries, the torching of buildings, and the looting of properties valued at millions of Naira.

Following the outbreak of violence, the Police Command arrested a total of 68 individuals engaged in the End Bad Governance protests in the local government areas of Dutse, Kiyawa, Kazaure, and Babura.

Furthermore, the authorities were able to retrieve 49 bags of stolen fertilizer, 15 bundles of mosquito nets, and several other valuable items that had been looted.
