President Federation Cup: Nasarawa United captain, Osanga Denies Strike Rumors

Captain of Nasarawa United, King Osanga, has refuted speculations about a strike among the club’s players.

The Solid Miners have successfully secured a spot in the Nigeria National League Super Eight playoff.

In addition, the team from Lafia will square off against Sokoto United in the Round of 32 of the President Federation Cup.

Recent reports suggested that the players had initiated a strike due to unpaid wages.

Despite this, the players engaged in an intense training session on Wednesday in preparation for their upcoming match against Sokoto United.

Expressing his confidence, Osanga stated that the team is prepared to take on any challenger in Nigeria’s oldest single-elimination inter-club tournament.

“The idea of a strike is absurd and baseless. We have never experienced any delays in payment because the government has been reliable,” Osanga shared with the club’s media.

“It seems that certain individuals have exaggerated the events of yesterday. It’s crucial for them to conduct thorough research before disseminating information.”

“Our original plan was to train on Tuesday morning, but due to a conflicting schedule with another NLO game at the stadium, players gathered to discuss our overdue match bonuses and the importance of receiving them before the FA competition,” explained Osanga.

He added, “As far as we know, the government has approved the release of these bonuses, and we are awaiting their distribution.”

“Our internal discussions regarding our entitlements shouldn’t be misinterpreted as a strike. Have we resorted to public displays or demands? Absolutely not!” Osanga emphasized.

“These allegations serve as distractions, especially when crucial matches lie ahead. Our primary focus remains overcoming the challenges awaiting us,” he continued.

Osanga concluded, “We have established communication channels through which we can address any outstanding matters with the relevant authorities.”
