President Buhari reverses dismissal of NBET MD by Minister of Power

President Buhari has overturned the dismissal of the Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company Limited (NBET), Marilyn Amobi, by the Minister of Power, Sale Mamman.

Nnaemeka Ewelukwa, who had taken over as the acting managing director of NBET, was instructed to step aside to allow Amobi to resume her former position. This directive was issued in a memo from the office of the secretary to the government of the federation (SGF).

Mamman had dismissed Amobi in December 2019, citing efforts to “restore sanity” in the agency’s management. Additionally, the agency had been relocated from the ministry of power to the ministry of finance. The Minister had also formed a 5-man investigative committee to look into allegations against her.
