The decision of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to “step back” from royal duties and aim to achieve financial independence while balancing their time between the United Kingdom and North America has sparked criticism from the Queen’s former chef.
Darren McGrady, who spent 15 years in the royal kitchen catering to various members of the royal family, including the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Diana, and Princes William and Harry, voiced his reaction on Twitter.
Expressing his frustration, the chef tweeted: “Meghan wanted to be famous. Meghan is famous! It’s all about Meghan!”
He also stated, “People saying Princess Diana would be proud don’t know Princess Diana. She would have been furious that Harry had been so manipulated.”
Recalling a conversation with Princess Diana at Kensington Palace, McGrady mentioned, “I remember Princess Diana in the kitchen at Kensington Palace talking about ‘her boys’ … ‘William is deep like his father. Harry is an airhead like me’.”
He added, “Even in her darkest hour Princess Diana respected The Queen. She would have been so mad with Harry right now.”
