Posthumous Awards presented to six fallen policemen

An award and commendation ceremony took place in Abuja on Monday to honor six policemen who lost their lives in Ughelli, Delta State, back in March.

It was revealed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a post shared on his X handle the following day.

During the event, families of the deceased officers were presented with their entitled benefits and also received contributions from various government officials.

In March, PUNCH reported that six officers were confirmed dead by the Nigeria Police Force while investigating the disappearance of three colleagues in Delta State.

An update from the NPF mentioned that eight suspects had been apprehended in connection with the killings.

Sharing images from the occasion on his X account, the FPRO posted, “Our six policemen who tragically lost their lives in Ughelli, Delta State, in February 2024, were recognized posthumously at the award and Commendation Ceremony in Abuja on Monday, with their families receiving their entitled payments.”

“We applaud the IGP for his compassionate response to their families’ needs.

“Special gratitude goes to the Governor of Kano State for his donation of N20m. Additionally, the Senate President contributed N6m, and the Senate itself added N20m.

“We acknowledge all those who have shown support for the families of our fallen heroes. May God bless you all. May the souls of our fallen heroes rest in peace.”
